Some Dove

The Caribbean captivated my spirit and I surrendered it with love. This affair includes encounters with hurricanes; impressive, life altering episodes. Once more on Wednesday November 5th, the day after the election, tropical storm Paloma formed off the coast of Honduras. As the Republican half of the country lamented its descent into our barbaric Democratic cauldron, hurricane Paloma intensified on its track towards the Caymans and Cuba. McCain and Bush politely dissimulated their anguish, but nature had to take its course. The stress surfaced with Bush’s dog Barney aggressing a journalist and ferocious Paloma attacking Cayman Brac and Cuba.

The name Paloma means dove in Spanish. This sarcastic innuendo tattles of hypocrisy, a common coping mechanism. Overall, the most important synch connected with this event is the apparent absence of casualties, perhaps pointing to reconciliation, as some Repubs may give in to the effusion of hope blossoming everywhere.

Another interesting parallel is the following incidence, alluding to déjà vu and the cycles of reincarnation: Paloma devastated Cayman Brac and then nailed Santa Cruz del Sur (Holy Cross of the South) on the anniversary of the deadly 1932 hurricane which destroyed Cayman Brac, killing 69 people, and followed the exact same course to Santa Cruz del Sur where over 3000 lives were lost.
